Areas we cover
Carpentry across York and nearby villages.
Carpentry in York and the places around it: Acomb, Haxby, Fulford and Bishopthorpe. Working close to home means visits are easy to arrange and we know the houses.

Where we work.
- 01
York
The city and its inner suburbs
Inside and around the city walls, including the Victorian and Edwardian terraces of South Bank, Clifton and the Groves. Original skirting, doors and stairs here are often worth repairing and matching rather than replacing.
- 02
Acomb
West of the city centre
Older terraces around Front Street and plenty of twentieth-century semis. Hallway storage, replacement internal doors and panelled walls are the jobs we are asked about most.
- 03
Haxby
North of York, beyond the ring road
Mostly post-war family homes, where the hallway and the stairs work hard. New handrails and spindles, under-stair storage and doors trimmed for new floors make the most difference.
- 04
Fulford
South of the centre, along the A19
Larger Victorian and Edwardian houses alongside newer streets. Period panelling, deep skirting and architraves to match, plus repairs to frames and window boards.
- 05
Bishopthorpe
A village south of York, by the Ouse
Cottages and family homes in a village setting. Alcove cupboards, fitted wardrobes in awkward rooms and staircase work come up often.

Working in older York homes
Worth checking before work starts.
- Listed homes. If your house is listed, changes to original joinery can need listed building consent from City of York Council. Check with the council before anything is removed.
- Uneven walls and floors. Expected in older houses. We allow for scribing and packing in the quote rather than on the day.
- Parking and access. Tell us about narrow streets, permits or steps, so we can plan deliveries of longer lengths.
Just outside these areas? Ask anyway: we can often still help.
